Ferguson and Newell Galleries Comics, Heroes and American Visual Culture: The Dan F. and Barbara J. Howard Collection of American Popular Art from the Sheldon Art Museum August 9 - November 1, 2008
Appealing to young and old alike, Comics, Heroes and American Visual Culture traces the development of comic art from early full-panel works through the comic book and later the graphic novel with original drawings and paintings. This exhibitions features larger-than-life characters from the comic book genre such as Superman, Batman and Captain Marvel, as well as such favorites from the comic strip discipline as Little Orphan Annie and Dick Tracy.
